How it works
How the staffing estimate works
Coverage hours per day × days per week × people needed at the same time = required staff hours per week. Those hours are divided by the available weekly capacity per person.
What is the absence allowance?
A single allowance for leave, sickness, training and other absences. At 40 weekly hours and 20% absence, calculated available capacity is 32 hours. Do not deduct absences twice if already included.
Will the rounded headcount cover every schedule?
It is a capacity estimate for equal weekly contracts. Actual shift lengths, rest periods, qualifications, part-time mixes and peaks still need scheduling. For example, a requirement of 4.38 people rounds up to at least 5 people at the selected weekly capacity.
